Still not running!!

Vince, I don't understand. Those jets are out of a set of carburetors that should be identical to yours. Which part is too small? The brass portion of the jet, or the plastic tube? Does the nut screw into the float bowl?
How about pictures of the "new" ones compared to the old, side by side. I'm baffled.
Jeff

Here ya go.

Whattaya tink?

Okay, I think I've got it figured out from the picture.
The rest of the jet is still in the carburetor. You have to disconnect the choke linkage, and pull it out. Then, the long brass part of the one I sent, slides back up inside, connect the tube to the float bowl, and reconnect the choke. They are one piece, Vince. Your old one is broken. The tube is not supposed to come off the plastic and brass piece. If you were to order a new jet, you'd get exactly what I sent you.
Jeff

But why is the diameter of my tube so much larger than yours?

I have the plastic piece out of the carb I just did not show it in the pic.

Vince, it's only the outer covering. The original jets had the spring around the outside, and some of the replacements were covered with a piece of rubber. The inner diameter should be the same.
What number is your carb? There should be a small aluminum tag under one of the float bowl cover screws with a number on it. It should be AUD135 (F or R). That's what these came out of, and was the correct carb for the MGB, 1965-1967. The jets were the same from '62 through '71.
Jeff

Gotcha. I just wanted to check. The carbs are AUD 135. I vill install & let you know how evryting goes.

All is well. Turns out there was still a bunch of crud in the jet & float bowl. I took everything apart & cleaned it up to make sure the float was operating correctly. Installed the new jet & fired her up. Ran like crud until I tweaked it. Just got back from a little evening run. Still not as responsive as I would like it at low RPM's but once it is going she runs great. Pinging at low RPM's also so I may have leaned it out too much. There seems to be a fine line to having it run at the right mix & RPM. I have to keep jumping back & forth from idle to mix to get it to stay running and not running too fast. Does not stink like gas as much as it did before.
One thing it does do, is it will idle high after I coast to a stop at a light. If it is a long light, the idle dips a bit & it runs a little rough.

yep, you need to play with the adjustmenst some more, both timeing and mixture.
