still no go

Been on another trip and just getting ready for another. But 75 mgb still won't run.

To refresh the history of this problem, we drove to Palm Springs, about 80 mile round trip, got back into town, stopped at snd light, car died and wouldn't start again had to tow it home.

Got it running, sort of. It will start, run up to 1500-2000 rpm and immediately die.

I pulled the gas line at the filter, turned the ignition on without turning over the engine and watched to see that we had a good fuel flow, so fuel pump is ok?

I checked the dizzy, cleaned it and reset it. Put the cap back on and still the same problem. Starts, runs up to about 2,000 rpm and dies.

Here's a pic of the dist. if that will be any help.

Any good ideas out there?

I think you mightve forgoten the picture.

You gotta have the pic "hosted" on a site like Flickr, or imagzhost, then insert the pics URL(usually listed somewhere on the page when you view your pic on those sites) into the text of your message using the "image" button on the page here where you write your post.

Or resize it to 600x width maximum. and 72 pixels per inch, and less than 200kb filesize... I usually go for 140kb or so. Then attach it, and I can bring it up for ya.

Have you looked in the Knowledge base? Yeh, I wrote the Troubleshooting a Stalled Engine. It's not all-inclusive but might give you an idea or two.

Guinn

Is the float ok in the carb? Did you check all the vaccuum routing? Did you try running the vehicle with the gas cap off? Did you check the air intake?

Seems to me it has to be:

1. Fuel
Pump
Vacume in tank
2. Fire
Condneser
Regulator
Coil

Zed S carb???

DIAPHRAGM.

Wellllll, I supose it could be. But just sounds wrong. More like electrical. But then darn if I know was just throwing out things to check quickley and cheepley.

Yup. Me2. Pinholes inna diaphragm will do that, as will just about ANY other bit mentioned... It just depends on the methodology of diagnosis and HOW to start that process.

I'd be headed straight for the "stupid stuff" first: iggy (no hint what diz this is, so assume "pointless") function, plugs condition/gap, wires, etc... If "No Joy" then head for the fuel system... just the broad answer to a broad question.
