The only reason that it's even close to my machine is because the operating system requires it to function. I never use it, except to occasionally check for updates.
If I have to use IE, I generally use the IETab plugin for Firefox. There are some sites/web apps that are only designed for IE and either don't render at all or render poorly in other browsers.
