Still got those tape measures handy?

Hi Everyone,
It looks like I need another measurement. Hopefully, the last one before the car starts to get welded back together (no promises though). What I’m looking for is the distance from the frame rail straight out to the lower part of the sill (the thin part), just in front of the front outrigger. An ID measurement is what I’m looking for. I think all 6-cylinder cars will have the same dimension here. Here is a picture that may make it clearer. Thanks.

Greg,

Measured my BJ7 and (drum roll please)....

12 13/16" left side

12 7/8" right side

Now go weld that thing up already! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Cheers,
John

Hi John and Anthony,
Thanks for taking time out for me. I was able to work on the car today and get the sills lined up properly. I went with the 12 7/8” on both sides (I averaged both your driver sides together). /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif With the driver’s side body panels lined up, we were able to get the left side of the car tack welded together. I had to leave early, so I only had time to get the passenger side sill lined up. Wasn't able to re-hang the fenders or door to double check everything. Maybe next week…

Thanks again,
Greg

I'll look at mine tonight if you promise not to get under that car with just the scissors jack holding it up.
