Still "Adding Lightness"

I'm using slotted & cross drilled Brembo's

3~4 lbs lighter'n "stock"?

We went from 11 pound apiece iron to 1 pound apiece composites onna F-A car yearn ago... Have you looked into any 'choices' to fit a B? I know it's $$$, but it made a significant unsprung weight difference. Car "felt" remarkably more nimble: much quicker suspension 'recovery' on bumpy bits, less driver effort in steering at speed. Almost hard to get accustomed to.

There's lots I'll do after the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge when I'm not constrained by their budget limit...

ahhh... pesky ~rules~ alla time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Are you going to put some kind of gasket across the top of your new shroud?
Looking good, by the way.

Had not thought about one, David...what's your idea?

Oh, see my "Might as wells" thread - tomorrow I'm putting that gunmetal grey paint up under the front fenders...spring pans, A arms, springs, suspension beam are all new gloss black! Will paint shocks tomorrow

hmmmmmmmmm..would have to weld a shaped piece of aluminum to top of bracket

Simpler still would be to use a flat ribbon of rubber or somesuch, wide enough to touch the underside of the hood and be clamped or sheetmetal screwed to the front of the shroud. Experiment with different thickness of rubbber to give you enough "give" to fit around stuff, while having enough stiffness to "stand up".

That's an idea...cut it curved to fit hood but pliable enough that it'd bend over with force of hood against it....sounds like a "David Maples project"....hehehehe

How's it feel to be semi-retired?

For the rad shroud/hood seal, take a look at an old used MGB windshield bottom gasket? I'm workin' out the attachment details for that over here. Looks to be "purpose made" for the stock shroud-to-rad gap, should be adaptable for your homebrew setup t'wixt "bulkhead" and hood too.

or door/trunk/bonnet seal weather stripping?

The original MGB suspension beam weighs 28 ponds...after drilling all the holes in mine, its down to 26 pounds!

Photo tomorrow

Looks like a heavy radiator... You could pick up an aluminum side flow one at the breakers yard with plastic crimped on ends cheap. (reliability is still on the side of the traditional brass/lead/copper one though)

There's 'lightness' everywhere!
