Sticky Throttle Linkage

Finally able to drive my '55 BN2. Everything seems to be working. However, the throttle linkage is sticky and engine doesn’t come back to idle. It hangs up at about 1500 to 2000 RPM.

Is there some trick to loosening up all the linkage couplings? The car hasn’t been driven since '69.
