Oh, yeah - Rosenberg's:

"Rosenbugs, Rosenbugs -1825... Tu-lane!" Annoying little voice.

Remember Schwegmann's? (Pronounced "Swagman's"): "Way over 'der in da cornah!"

Mickey, my friend, you and I are probably the only two people on this forum that remember those jingles. :savewave:

Bill -

I found some links to some of the old WTIX shows a while back. Those, and the Pontchartrain Beach ads, and Morgus the Magnificent. Great stuff!
Ignorant on all counts, EXCEPT Morgus The Magnificent. and his hooded henchman Chumley. He's just Bizarre enough to have been caught by my radar.

Actually, his "sidekick" was named Chospley (you were close) and I used to watch them all the time. As did Mickey, I am sure.

Where-yat, Mickey, you charmer.....

Yeah, you right, Dawlin'!

Sid Noel was great as Morgus. Don't remember who played Chopsley. I was a fan for quite a while.

And to clue the rest of you in, as I recall, "Charmers" were from St. Bernard Parish. I was a frat from Carrollton.

How about "Chevron ....with F310",or
"Shell with Platformate",or "Mister,can I have 50cents worth-
of Good Gulf?".
"Hertz puts you in the driver's seat",wih the guy floating
in the air & into the driver's seat.
"Volkswagon.... best car on Zeno"

"Where's Horace Wink?" - Ford Mustang commercial

".... Mustang,Mustang '68".

Rainier Beer commercials

- Doug

What's the word?

THUNDERBIRD!

What's the price?

Thirty twice!

(Who of you remember Thinderbird wine?)

Oops, sorry for the insult, like I didn't know that. Charmers or Yats could always be spotted by their attire. Wife beaters Tee under a regular white Tee, flair-bottomed "sailor's" jeans pulled up past the waist, the requisite white socks, black shoes (usually pointy) and the hair. The hair was always, always slicked straight back, no exceptions. Usually with grease. Did I miss anything, Heart?

Once attended a formal affair within a Chalmette community where every male wore a black tux....and white socks.

No, 'bout the only change might be "Hawt" (or something like it; can't duplicate in print), rather than "Heart".

Fortier High School had its share of Charmers ("Chawmahs"?) - most from the Channel. It was a pretty benign relationship between groups - as you noted, mainly stylistic differences. Oxford shirts and penny loafers here. I will admit, though, a certain draw to Flagg Bros. Shoes on Canal St.

Doesn't surprise me. Perfectly in character!

Went to dental school with four Yats from the city (all four had Irish last names). They once took me to Mary's Tavern on Magazine, in the heart of the Channel, for a beer. Unbeknownst to be, Mary's didn't take to outsiders. I stuck out like a sore thumb there, Weejuns, button-down and a Fro hairdo. They didn't know whether to whip my arse or take me in the back and abuse me. Thank G_D they just whipped my arse.

Well, there were exceptions... :smirk:
