TR6 Sticking TR6 throttle

I can physically see that junction catching and holding things up as I move the linkage under the hood, and yes, if I hold the vent lever, things do not bind. It never did this until I had the carbs rebuilt, so I think something must be different in the set-up.

Who rebuilt the carbs again?

Right, but it might be something as simple as the end of the adjustment screw is worn to a point (or angle), which is now digging into the vent lever after being turned for the adjustment. It's normal for them to rub together, so that was why I suggested smoothing the screw tip and/or adding some lubrication.

Hello everyone,

I have additional data for this (STILL not fixed) problem. When I drive my TR6 for the first 20 minutes or so, there is no issue. However, after having driven for longer, and the car has been at operating speed for 30 or 40 minutes, I notice that the throttle begins sticking intermittently AND that the engine sputters at low RPMs (through the low gears). I don't know if these two problems are related, but they both appear at the same time. Let me emphasize that the engine is not overheated, just "at operating temp" for over 30 mins.

Does this sound like a carb problem? I am at a loss.

Thanks in advance,

CB

It sounds like the alignment problem that I had on my triples when I first installed them. Try loosening the spring clamps that hold the shafts together and the slightly loosen all four mounting bolts on each carb so you can twist them just a hair to get the shafts lined up better. The tighten the carbs and then the clamp bolts and see if that helps.

Paul, this sounds like a good thing to try, but I have never adjusted the carb linkage before--it seems like a delicate operation to me.

Just take a bunch of pictures first from all the angles, will give you some confidence that you'll be able to worst case put it back as it is.

I'm not talking about the linkage under the carbs, I'm talking abut the linkage between the two shafts of the carbs. I think that you may be misaligned quite a bit.

Can youpost some pictures, as Tom suggested and let us see what you have before you start anything?

I am having exact problem with a ā€˜76 TR-6. How did you resolve the throttle sticking?
