Does anyone have a source for c/d players? I have a '76 B I'm restoring and Crutchfield doesn't have anything to fit.

Any modern single din player should fit. You may have to open up the hole for the radio slightly depending on how unmolested your consul is. I've had no problems fitting a kenwood and a alpine cd deck in mine.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gifStewart is correct.

I know your 76’s console is slightly different from my 78’s. But the opening looks to be about the same so you should be able to make it work with a standard din box & a basic mounting kit.

A few years back I installed a Kenwood KDC-316S with in dash CD player & the removable face plate and a couple of 4.5” speakers in the doors. Later I added a mount for my XM-Radio receiver.

Ahhh shucks pard, get them boots offn my carpet.

What'ya mean? Them’be my Carroll Shelby drivin’ shoes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Good enough for a chicken rancher from Texas they’re good enough for me.

Lots of heal and toe there anyway.

Actually they are easier to use than you might be inclined to think. Much better than my old Reebok cross trainers, Jerusalem cruisers (sandals) or hard street shoes anyway.

There are some "custom made" kick panels for the Focal separates.
I'm happy with the sound system. It sounds very decent and I can still hear it on the freeway with the top down.I also have an aux input which I use for the ipod.

While we're on the subject...My wife wants a CD player in her MGA...But I absolutly refuse to remove the original working BMC radio....I've seen some hotrodders with hidden players controled by tiny hand held remotes...Anyone know anything about these??

Most of the aftermarket car decks now come with remotes. The only problem I would see is mounting it in a place that's hidden yet can still receive the IR signal from the remote.

Good point, I was thinkiing in the truck, but that would be awkward to get the signal too...Under the dash would be ok? Even if I have to aim the remote down there.

Either that, or for a few bucks more you can pickup a IR repeater. Check Parts Express (www.partsexpress.com) for something that might work.

Nice setup. What size are those Focal Mids; 6.5? I've been mentally planning to install my system in much the same manner. I'll be using different components, but speaker placement will be about the same with 5.25 + tweet components down in the 'kicks' area in custom "pods". I haven't decided on how far forward I'll place them yet though. I don't want to end up putting them where my foot will be most of the time.

They are 5 3/8". The guy that did these kick panels did a lot of back and forth with me in the car , so we found like the "sweet spot" where ny foot was NOT kicking the enclosure yet there was enough angle so the front stage could be lifted up at ear level.

Steve has seen and heard the system. If you want we can hook up and you can get a better idea about the whole layout, front stage, amp rack, sub enclosure and what not.

5 3/8" ..... leave it to Focal to use an odd size... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I talked to
Crutchfield a while back and they suggested a Sony with a WIRED remote. No aiming problem for trunk mount. Bob

Thanks for all the help...been away from the computer for a few days. Finally got my B home last night and got to take a really good look. I'll try and get some "befor" posted in near future. Thanks again!
