Steering

My TR6 is my first LBC and also my first car with a trunnion
steering system. Tonight I had my outer tie rods off so that I could install new gators, when I tried to turn the vertical link to get thr tie rod lever out of my way I noticed a cosiderable amount of resistance.
Is this normal?
I only have experience with cars that have upper and lower ball joints and these tend to flop around freely when the tie rods are disconnected.
By the way I have new trunnions and ball joints on my car and the are adequetly lubed.
Is this something I should be concerned with?

I am just putting my front suspension back together again, and I noticed how tight it felt with the new ball joint. When I took it all apart (don't know when it was last done, but it certainly wasn't recent!) it was very loose, so I was concerned that something was not right. I went ahead and put the wheel back on and checked with the car on the ground again that the steering effort wasn't excessive, so I think pretty tight should be okay. I am sure that someone with more experience than me will confirm this - or let me know that I need to do more work to mine!

Hope that helps
