Finally found a moment to take a couple pictures of the new steering wheel. This is a custom hand made wheel made by Mike Lempert -- 14.5" diameter with a rosewood rim. The wheel included a custom center boss that takes the factory horn push.

Yes, it took a while (okay, 2 years, but it was not one of his normal designs) but was well worth the wait. I wanted something special for the Tunebug, and got exactly what I wanted.

Really nice, Drew...you gonna keep it installed with that center arm pointing up?

That is his secret sight for the rocket launcher.

I am, Tony. The only thing straight up is the turn signal light, and it's really bright -- and should actually shine through the spoke just fine. I really like the evenly-spaced spokes.

Yup! Straight up is the way to go for visibility.

I like it a lot!

Gotta take a photo of the "LL" wheel on my '63 tomorrow....straight up, hmmmmm

My Daimler SP250 had it straight up also.

Unfortunately, my old steering wheel has the initials "LL" on the bottom of the center spoke so it has to go down.

Nice looking wheel!

Was it pricey!?

What is Mike Lempert's contact info? (for future reference....)

"Cheers!"

Not pricey at all -- admittedly I got pricing as of 2 years ago, so I got an additional deal compared to today's prices. Similar to a MotoLita wheel and hub, just a bit more than a Tourist Trophy. He's got prices on his website:

Even though it took longer than I had originally hoped, I'm very happy with the quality. Working with independent businessman can take a bit longer than an off-the-shelf order, but is well worth it.

went to the website and the first post I saw was Jack on it already - go Jack!

Haha, I was ahead of Drew even. But found I could not wait.
