TR2/3/3A Steering wheel orientation- late TR3B

Hi All,

I'm off to the alignment shop today, but I am unclear on how to have them orient the steering wheel. Here's a photo of my TR3's interior. Should the wheel be positioned like it is when the car is headed in a straight line? Or should one of the spokes be pointed directly down?

It is early so I may not be making sense with my question. Thanks very much, Jeff

I think that you are 180 degrees off, The spoke should be pointing down. Nice TR by the way!

I think tinman is correct. However the way it is shown in the picture seems to make sense since wouldn't you block less of the gauges with it in that orientation? Just asking? What's the view of the gauges when you sit in the car?

Agreed, she is a beauty!

That's those adjustable wheels that start off too close and adjust closer yet!

Funny Al, I never noticed that you had the adjustable column.

Cheers,
Tush

Al,

Does your turn signal self-cancelling mechanism work? Mine seems to only self-cancel if one set of spokes is pointed straight up.

Thanks, Jeff

Jeff, Yes the self cancelling does work both ways. I suggest taking it apart with the use of the document. The fix may be quite easy.....but then again....
I have noticed that if I am turning slightly and go to set the turn signal it will not catch and default back to the center position. Coincidentally my spokes on the wheel would be at the 12 o'clock position as you mention. If I am going straight along the road and I set it to turn it cancels when it should after the turn.
