TR6 Steering wheel horn issue

I replace my steering wheel with an after market one. I had to drill the hole a bit bigger to fit the pencil connector. When I turn the wheel the horn sounds. The horn works fine when I press the button. I found a photo on line to show where I believe the issue is.(see attached) If this is the issue there is another hole closer the the center. Should I make this hole a bit bigger to fit the pencil connector in this one so it is further way from the outer edge? Opinions.

You did not state the brand of wheel you installed.
I bought Moto-Lita wheels for my 2 TR4s ( same steering wheel set up) and had the same issue. I found that the underside of the new wheel had a raised area that was causing the problem. Try removing the pencil connector and see if the horns still honk. If so, I ground down the raised ridge so that IT did not come in contact with the brass plate.

Had the same issue, same solution Charleyf posted, grind down the wheel hub.

Hub hits the contact ring where the tabs fold over to hold it on

You can see the wear on the contact ring, I ended up grinding the hub more than shown.

I had this issue also. Mine was due to excessive play in the steering shaft. I installed replacement steering column bushings and the problem was solved.
