With the stock steering, I always ran mine adjusted out as far as they would go (but the adjuster still in place). No problems at all, until I installed an ADDCO sway bar in combination with wide tires; then I had to reel it in just a bit to keep the tires from rubbing on the sway bar.
But I'm not familiar with the R&P conversion, it's possible that the R&P needs a closer limit. Just make sure the stop hits before the rack reaches the end of its travel.
