I have read from several members problems related to the steering
column "knucklebone" wrapping/grabbing nearby
wires and causing breakdowns.

My own TR6 had two very nasty breakdowns as a result
of the steering column knucklebone grabbing primary
ignition wires and tearing them apart..

Here is a knucklebone FIX I came up with that took maybe 2 hours
to fabricate and install. It has worked perfectly
and protects my wiring harness, clutch hydraulic hose, etc.
from the dreaded steering knucklebone.

I used .080 aluminum stock, cut and shaped to fit on my
grinder and secured in place with two existing thru-bolts.
It works great and I've no more "knucklebone" related breakdowns.
I highly suggest to install one.

Yup!!

Breaking down in the middle of an interste cloverleaf
intersection was pretty grim.

It won't happen again due to the knucklebone!!

<span style="color: #660000">Paul, two breakdowns in the middle of super heavy traffic was enough for me. I covered
the steering wheel knucklebone with a plate and was done
with it. I know some other BCF folks have had problems with the steering knucklebone eating wires and cables.

A very simple upgrade everyone could use.

I agree with you about the breakdowns, but the important thing is to keep all wires secured and away from that area and there will be no problems.
 
I had the ultimate knuckle breakdown...it broke completely once on my TR4A. I had just finished a spirited jaunt down the highway and pulled into a McD for lunch. Turning the wheel while stopped to pull into a spot resulted in a spinning steering wheel :shocked: Good think I always carried a spare coat hanger :smile:
