Well, I finally got sick of the play and shaking of the wheel on my 7, and went gung ho at replacing the grommet on the firewall.
I brought up the page from the TR7 TR8 owners club that I was sent by one of our great members here, and began to follow. All was fine, got to the spot about boiling it for 5 minutes, then with a little force, it would just pop in. NOT

I then sent my son in to boil it for 10 minutes. NOT

Then we tried 15 minutes, the microwave, beating it with a hammer, soap, oil, hand cream, vise grips....
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!
I then broke down, got my hack saw, and cut one side of it. In it popped, nice and tight, and everything else fit great.

Ya learn somthing new every day with these cars.
