Steering Box

My wife's pre-New Year's resolution if for me to start to finish up my TR3A restoration project (of course she calls it something else which I won't repeat).

One task that I'd like to see done is a rebuild of the steering box. I have neither the time nor ability to rebuild the steering box. Aside from the Roadster Factory, does anyone know of ANYBODY credible who rebuilds TR3A steering boxes?

Please help! This is one necessary step to assauge the wife's wrath!!!

Cheers
JM

I know, I know.

Label me either a purist or a glutton for punishment but I'd really like to stay original.

Certainly the 2 local British car shops in our town do these... if there is a British specialist in your area that may be a source.

Is it broken ? IF NOT, WHY REPLACE IT ? If it's apart, it can be re-assembled. Mine was sloppy as my TR3A wandered all over the road from side to side. I put in a kit with a spring-loaded peg and a modified cover. Check the archives. It was only about 2 or 3 weeks ago, this was discussed.

I don't know if it is broken or not. I received it already removed from the vehicle. The presumption is that if it not broken now. But my gosh, these things are almost 50 years old. My thinking is that if it out of the car, why not get it fixed. The last thing I want is to reassemble everything and have the steering box go out in five years.

I'll call around the Atlanta area and see what I can find.

Thanks
