Steer crazy

My steering squeeks like a rusty door on my 66 E type. Inside the car it sounds like it's coming from the steering column but under the bonnet it sounds like it's coming from the rack and pinion so it seems like the noise must travel either up or down. It really creeks. Anyone delt with a similar situation before I start pulling everything apart. I tried graphite in the steering column then tried WD 40 on all the obvious places with no luck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Squeek/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gifSqueek

Hey, long time no talk! Glad to see you back! Now, I am no authority on E-Types per se, but it sounds rather as if you have no lubricant inside the steering rack. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif
