Steel wheels and paint

I took five rims in to the sand blaster to remove the rust and paint. Should I powder coat or just paint them when they come back.

Cheers

I always paint.

Powder coat is illegal for OEM manufacturers because it hides cracks and other dangerous imperfections... or so I've been told. It's also hard to touch up properly.

I'm happy with the duplicote from Canadian Tire - they have a silver wheel paint as well as clear coat. Nice metallic look to it

I found that Rustoleum Industrial Aluminum (it's a flat, silver color...not shiny), works for me. It's in rattle cans at Home Depot, Loewes, etc.

You can sort of see my results on the wire wheels in ~This Picture~

I agree about the powder coating hiding any cracks or flaws. Not a good idea on wheels.

I would suggest Awl-Grip two-part epoxy marine paint, especially for wheels! It comes in a nice metallic silver and is impervious to gas, solvents and even lacquer thinner and is tough as nails! With the correct catalyst it can be sprayed!

Thanks Guys

Think I will go for the Rustoleum Industrial Aluminum paint.

Cheers

Any good, strong silver paint after a good primer...finalized by a good clear coat.

The factory flat silver color on Spitfire & GT6 wheels was a Ford color called Argent, which is still available.
