Normally when used an olive on a compression fitting it’s for a permanent joint and the olive compresses onto the tube and can’t be removed without cutting it off .The olives sold by supplier(s) are split; anyone know why?
Having a split olive allows the fitting to be dismantled and reused .
Also if you were to cut an olive in a normal compression fitting for hydraulics or water etc it would not seal due to the pressure .
Used in this application pressure is not an issue .
