State with the most bugeyes?

The three here in Oriental are drivers and one of them raced this past weekend in Savannah, Ga. and took second in it's class. I used to autocross a right hand drive Bugeye back in the mid 70's and had a ball.

Well, the bugey has always been the little step-sister to the big Healeys, esp. as far as registries and the like! And yes, Charlie, one of the things I love about Bugeyes is that most of those I have encountered for the most part tend to be daily-drivers and the people who own them do so for the joy of the driving experience they provide, not for the collector value...one of the charms of our little "lower-end" classics! After all, why did THE Donald build them?...To make an affordable peoples sports car, and boy did he!!! How many of you bought your cars at over three figure numbers. I bet more than you think were bought for the "classic" $500 and then brought back/fixed up from near woeful ends - right?

Right, twice now.

Yes, but that was 25 yrs ago, and I am still fixin it. Yehaw!!!!!!!!!!

1968 traded a Honda 350 scrambler for it...

Me too kc!!! I'm on my second BE too Jack (and 3 newer Sprites) It's an obsession I tell ya!!!

Texas used to have a bunch of BE's. But seems like they are being sold to out of state buyers...

I got one. hehe.

I might go over to SpriteSpot.com and try the same trick on the registered users, and see if I can add some more names. I know y'all are mostly registered there too, but there are probably quite a few additional ones.

Basil, do you talk to the SpriteSpot.com folks ever?

Would be neat to get into Moss data base of Bugeye owners.

Heck, I'd just like to get an easy to use, online, open registry available somewhere. A while back I threw out that I'd be willing to tackle this, but there was some concern about duplicating the existing efforts. Really don't want to redo existing stuff, but it would be nice to be able to easily query this information.

Maybe someday...

Have always wondered why Basil does not start a registery?

Many marques already have them, online and searchable. When I was in shopping mode last year, I meandered through the Spitfire and Triumph registries. They were well done and easily usable.

Someday maybe we'll need to pester the various Sprite/Midget/AH registries to see if we can make the data more usable. Can't say it's at the top of my list right now, but maybe someday.

The database at the Yahoo Bugeye Interest Group page has 256 currently listed. A few of these are VIN plate only. A few are production milestones. Here's my unscientific tally from this data base.

CA 32
OR 13
VA 11
PA 10
IL 11
TN 5
WA, MD, OH, MI, TX 3
RI, CT, AL, FL, SC, WV, DC, MO, NY, KY, MN 2
NC, ID, UT, AZ, AL, 1
Australia 101

Looks a little short. May have missed a page. If you haven't posted to this database you should.

Jack, it looks like you and I must be the only Fl. BEs registered there!! I KNOW there are many more down here!! The Auzzies have a bunch down there, but then they are into odd little animals down under. They also got the BE offered as a kit there didn't they?

Think maybe they only got it as a kit but was assembled by a factory in Auzy land.

Had to do with taxes as I recall. Lots less tax if assembled in Australia.
