I put the hood on my car yesterday. Small rubber spacers
at either side of the bonnet (politically correct) when it
closes don't seem so hot. They kinda impede, for now.
Maybe will settle into place with time...and soon, I hope.

Couldn't wait for parts to come from Quantum. Managed
to find speedo angle along with...yes....another speedo
cable. Bought 'em. Still need the speedo adapter with the little star washer and screw to hold the whole enchilada in place.

Drove the car again yesterday. Had a screw up, sorta.
Oil spurting, somewhat, out of the orrifice where the speedo angle should be fastened. I think I lost the
oil seal that fits in there. I am praying it is easy to
replace...like, I don't want to remove the darned tranny
for a little rubber seal, though it is probably important. Any advice here is appreciated.

Next up will be tranny upgrade electrical (overdrive unit.)
My repair manual is confusing a bit. Shows a relay used
on, I think, an A drive tranny. Mine is a J. Is it possible
the J does not utilize a relay? On the J side pic, the relay
seems omitted/overlooked.

Shouldn't be too hard to replace in situ, I think. Remove the retaining bolt and pull out the bearing housing. If it doesn't want to come, you can temporarily screw the speedo cable partway on, then use a pair of pry bars to pry against the edge of the nut.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]Is it possible
the J does not utilize a relay? [/QUOTE]That's right, the factory did not use a relay with the J-type OD. The difference is that the A-type solenoid draws a huge current surge when it is first engaged, like 20 amps, then drops to a 1 amp holding current. 20 amps is too much for the switches to handle reliably. However the J solenoid only draws about 2 amps (all the time), so the switches can handle that.

Of course, you can add a relay if you want, but it doesn't seem to be needed.
 
Ditto Randall on the speedo part. I used the cable cap, a screw driver and a small block of wood. Popped right out. Missing O rings can give your a chassis a whole new color scheme, not good.
