It is driving me nuts! My tr3a starts fine cold but after it warms up
and say I take it to the store, when I come out to start it, forget it!
Eventually it will start, when it wants to.
I removed the in-line gas filter, still same problem.
I'm gettin' ready to dump it! Only kiddin'.

If it's getting hot, vapor lock would be my first guess. If it is not, an over-rich mixture would be my second guess (rich idle setting or choke stuck on).

Mine is a little harder to start when hot after a brief stop. I suspect there is excessive fuel in the intake that evaporates if the car is parked for a longer spell. Always starts after a bit more cranking than usual. I suspect there is a way to prevent this -- alas, I do not know what it is.

I put a brand new distributor in and that made a difference with the hot start. Perhaps mine would stick advanced, I am not sure

Are you holding the throttle about 1/3 down and no choke when starting hot?

Adding a heat shield between the carbs & exhaust helped my hot start problem a lot. Now it usually lights off right away, but sometimes it still takes a little cranking. My next approach will be to rig the radiator fan so it will run if the area around the carbs gets too hot.
