MGB-GT Starting tune up of my 70 BGT

Uh oh! I'm getting myself in trouble here. I'm paid to be a skeptic so I tend to question "conventional wisdom". I simply stated conclusions I had seen in numerous places...that K&N filters let much more dirt through than paper filters. I think that is pretty well established (it seems obvious actually...higher flow rate = less filtering), but it may be that the amount of dirt does not decrease engine life much more rapidly than other destructive processes. Some folks would rather accept the possibility of reduced engine life to gain a couple of horsepower while some wouldn't.

Now, tell me about this Marvel Mystery Oil thing. Also, what is ZDDP content and why is it important?

Rick;
Do you have the part# for the filters from FLE? I like the idea as well as the benefit of additional access to the carbs vs. the stock "cans".

I do have some concerns regarding exposure to water. Not sure how much moisture actually enters the engine compartment while driving in bad weather. I've had experiences with cold air intakes and water. I never drive my Scion into an automatic car wash!

Bob's website is highly reccommended. Great stuff. A real good guy as well. He's on the "other" site as well and has answered questions I've had.

Interesting regarding the cycle oil. i've never heard of using it and would be interested in more information as well..anyone?

Thanks for the part #. I did a little searching and found it earlier. But the FLE deal with the free shipping was too good a deal. Thanks for the tip.
Guess I shouldn't have painted the stock cans yesterday!

I've already drilled & mounted my stock velocity stacks like Hap recommended. Just waiting for the filters to come /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
