starting the engine w/ key

the engine cranked when we jumped the selanoid w/ a screw driver, so we assumed the selanoid was shot. new sel and still not cranking. any location to trouble shoot 1st or what to look for wiring wise?

Are you getting power to the solenoid?
When the key is in the start position power should go from that ignition switch contact to the solenoid to activate it. Back trace that wire from the solenoid to the switch.

Would not hurt to get out the wireing diagram and the meter and check to see where the power is and where it should be.
