Starting Problem Ignition coil? Dist. Cap?

Good News everyone its running! I know it will take a little to tune him up but thank you for the 'insight' and 'second looks' into my problems. As I have sucked my daily limit of fumes I'll work on the tune up tomorrow.

One final note I know these machines have some unique and expected sounds but I did hear a bit of a loud crack, it happened after a semi-high engine rev and on the down cycle almost like a backfire. But it didn't sound healthy could be any number of things but I thought I'd throw it out there to see what you Jedi-masters have to say.

A leak in the exhaust system (manifold to downpipes gasket for example) can allow air in the exhaust which will light-off unburned gasoline that enters the exhaust on deceleration. It usually sounds like pop pop pop, but that's while driving. It's not really a problem but can be fixed by checking that connection for looseness or a failed gasket.
