Starter Terminal Post Nut Size

I'm down in my shop trying to get SOMETHING done on my TR3A today and have been getting thwarted at every turn. So I decided that since I now have my starter solenoid installed I would wire it up. Wrong again I don't have a nut in the shop that will fit the starter terminal. I'm beginning to suspect that it's a British thread, am I right? If it is, does anyone have an extra that I could beg, buy, borrow or steal?

Thanks, Tinkerman

Yes, it is a British thread, although I don't recall which one offhand.

BSF 1/4"-26...sorry, no spare nut to offer you...it's brass BTW, and the hex size is also not common. It measures about 0.530" across the flats.

Hmm, not .525"? That would be a standard 1/4 BSW (or 5/16 BSF) wrench size, and I think I used a BS wrench on mine.

I said about Randall, it was a quick measurement and the nut had some dirt on it...so, I'd go with 0.525".

A real bargain, eh? Compared to shipping from the UK anyway ...

Aloha Frank

I've been a Yankee's fan since I was a kid growing up in Western New York, but Scooter was at the end of his career then. Tony Kubek was the short stop I remember most from back then.

Randy, thanks for the tip on the site. I called them this morning and they would be happy to send me one. However, since I am a first time buyer with them,
my initial order needs to be $25.00. Makes it kind of spensive. I'm working on some used ones now.
I didn't know they used terminal nuts in baseball, heh!

Cheers, Tinkerman

Hey Dick,
I have two new ones. If you would like them PM me with your address.
