Does anyone have a good source for a GOOD starter switch? I bought a new one from one of the 2 local haunts and it does not travel back to an original position. It only travels about 1/4 of an inch. Today it actually stuck in the engaged position a few times after the car was started. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Shoot they never wear out. hehe

Open it up, cut the ends in three places, at the start of the bend and in the middle of the end. Peal back the lip with heavy pliers. Open it up, clean points, clean out and lub a bit. Make sure spring is happy and that it works freely. Put it back together and all is well for another 30 years.

Those are really really heavy copper points in there, lots of meat to work with.
 
Aye, should have. Old ones were bullet proof.

Remember, no question to small or too crazy. Someone has an answer, been there, done that.
 
I have even replaced the spring in an old one with a new one when the spring got weak! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
