All of a sudden when trying to start the car a 76 tr6 everything went dead .When i turn the key to start the ignition it shorts out , figuring it was the starter i just put in a new high torque starter and the same thing happens how do i check the relay or the key switch ,or bypass it

Take a huge old screwdriver and place the steel shank of the screwdriver so it touches both the large nuts on the end of the starter solenoid. I know it will work for my TR3A.
