Starter problem and motor wont shut down

I see where MSD says you can also use a resistor as a permanent load on the ignition circuit to solve the problem. Easier I suppose, but I like the diode better.
 
well thanks for the information, I got the run-on problem solved, the diode in the ignition lamp wire worked, now just have to swap the starter out and see if the new gear reduction starter has a problem

new update on the slow turning starter problem, switched out the new starter to the old rebuild lucus, still slow turning, so I put a different battery in and wa-lah spins like a top so take the batter back to the auto place and guess what, BAD, so they gave me a new one, should have checked the batter FIRST, you would think I would learn, note to self and others
