I have a starter that I think is for a Jag.
Part number 26062A M 450

Does anyone know which Jag it belongs to?

Jerry

Doesn't match any of the part numbers in my SNG Barratt's catalog for Jag starters.

that is a useful web site. The guy that sold me my Austin Healey, also gave me this starter. I originally thought my next car would be an XK140 or 150 but the price on those is too high for me. Does anyone know what these are worth?

Jerry;
The Starter you have, Lucas #26062, Is fitted to the '51-'60 MK V, MK VII, MK VIII, MK IX.. all with Manual Gearboxes, as well as the '53-'60 XK120, XK140 and XK150.. all with Manual Gearboxes.
I have an XK120 and am in need of a correct starter.. My DHC was originally fitted with a #26042A on it (but starter and flywheel were changed to a 3.4/3.8 Saloon set-up shortly after I bought it--long story! I've since obtained the correct flywheel..), I suspect the #26062 is a superceeded version, although the #26042E is the known superceded starter for the #26042A's.
If you still have this starter, I might be interested in obtaining it, if it will "exchange" with mine.
I need to know "all" the numbers stamped on the case, including the "date code", the number of "drive teeth" of the starter drive, if they are "course" or "fine" teeth, their diameter and length and, if possible and most important, if you could zap me a clear, well lit, low-res jpeg pic of the starter, including a close-up of the starter drive.
As far as "value" goes, I'm sorry to inform you that used, "cores" (even tho they may have worked when removed thirty years ago) are going for about $10.00 to 20.00.. Recently, on ebay, an NOS #26042E that was covered in rust went for $150.00, it got one bid..
Charles #677556.
