Stalling

Patrick,

I suggest you replace the fuel tank as the problem will recur as the sealant continues to deteriorate. I had the same issue on a restored car that I bought.

I actually had a radiator shop that did tanks completely clean it out. That was several years ago and no more problems with it.

I had a similar problem, car after complete restoration including having the fuel tank cleaned and coated would on shake down runs would run great for about fifteen minutes and stall. Wait a few minutes, could hear the fuel pump clicking, and then would start and run again for 10-15 minutes. I finally measured the flow into a beaker at the end of the carb inlet hose and was no where near what is is suppose to be. So what was happening was the float bowls were emptying faster that they could be replenished. There was a thread about whether original fuel tanks has a filter on the inlet or not, consensus was they did not, well mine did and I could barely see the pink coating all over it. I bought a new fuel tank, problem solved. Randy Forbes also I believe nailed this as a possible problem.

Thanks

I don't know if I am late to the party and the problem has been found, but given the regularity of the problem's appearance I would suspect something in the fuel supply line rather than trash in the tank. I did once have a leaf somehow get into the tank of my 100 that would periodically get sucked up against the pickup but the resulting fuel starvation happened on an irregular basis. Carefully check for a collapsed line and also be sure to check the small screen filter in your--I assume--SU fuel pump which has limited capacity and can easily be clogged.
