It was powered by a small V8 that was unique to the Stag. Triumph wanted it's design and didn't care that the corporate Rover/BL V8 would be more economical. Problems with cooling soon cropped up and the Stag's U.S. life was cut short. No Stags came to the U.S. after 1973 - although they were made until 1977. Consequently they're a pretty rare bird on these shores.
