SSgt. Carter personifies courage under fire. And even better, he has given credible voice to the effects of PTSD.

The CMH is deserved, his continuing fight with the demons is not. Salute the award, hug the veteran.
 
Not many of us left that chokes up when old glory passes buy in a parade, not many left that chokes up when we walk through Arlington, not many left that chokes up when we walk by and observe the names on The Wall! I tear up just thinking about the price that is paid for freedom and the thousands of men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we may enjoy our pleasures. They're all heroes in my book! My biggest hope is that the younger generation will someday truly realize and appreciate what it cost to be free! The prognoses doesn't look too good on that end, but I have hopes. PJ
