SSsnake - It's Been Awhile

I love this car!!

The 1st photo (with a bit of imagination) is what you might see in your rear view mirror just before she blows your doors off (hehehehe)......

If you look at the grille opening, you'll see we're reshaping & resizing it...only the first layer of fiberglass is on it so the curves in the corners aren't there yet and it's not real pretty in this stage...the grille's also been made smaller by about an inch vertically and horizontally and rolled so my custom made grille will be recessed about an inch....also, the bottom edge of the chin spoiler has to be cut down about 1/2"...& I've still not found exactly what I want for front park lights.

Oh, she'll have 8" front wheels & 10" rears when she comes around you!

I know. Get some of that vinyl wrap that they put on busses and race cars (NASCAR) in black and body color. Apply to the windshield etc., see how it looks and what you like, remove the wrap and put on the permanent finish, paint or POLISH.

CHUCK!!! Where ya been, guy?

That makes it:

4 - powdercoat/paint black windshield/vent window
8 - polish windshield/vent window
1 - Paint windshield/vent window body color
6 - no rear spoiler
1 - rear spoiler
4 - not sure on rear spoiler

same place I've always been Tony, just really busy. still haven't gotten the new bumpers on the LE, but I did finally get all the trees we lost in the ice storm cut up and hauled off, including the one that totaled Laura's truck. Also planning on having yet another grandson tommorrow.

Good to hear from you, Chuck!

And congrats on the new arrival!

WOO HOO!! Now Chuck's gonna have to build a 'proper' garage so he can get that new grandson involved with LBC's!!

By-the-by, Chuck, howw's Laura doing these days?

Laura is mean as ever, she's made it a year now cancer free so things are looking up.

I think, my opinion, that the spoiler is entirely the wrong shape to do any good. It needs lots of height, end plates, and angle.

And it really isn't very attractive, Tony. :frown:

I think this so cool man! It should reflect your inner soul and if you want to paste the punks against the asphalt then you need the spoiler. I think the black chrome would be good for the windscreen and vent frames. earlier I read that they thought it made it disappear and i agree it would blend better and not attract your eye to it. There is enough going on without it! Looks good!! I am doing my '77 right now and waffling back and forth from "Keeping it Original" to "Go For It" Nothing near what you are doing Tony! I think I'll do a custom color Green as opposed to original. If it was a chromie maybe it would go back stock....but it isn't! :thirsty:

So, now it's at:

5 - powdercoat/paint black windshield/vent window
8 - polish windshield/vent window
1 - Paint windshield/vent window body color
6 - no rear spoiler
1 - rear spoiler

No new photos as the fiberglass work they're doing to the nose won't show up well until they put primer on it.

6 to 1 no spoiler.

Ah, but Ricky & I haven't voted on any of the options - yet!

Can I vote against the rear spoiler? Did I already do that? What the heck.

Yes you can, Bill:

5 - powdercoat/paint black windshield/vent window
8 - polish windshield/vent window
1 - Paint windshield/vent window body color
7 - no rear spoiler
1 - rear spoiler

Here's our initial mock-up of the spoiler:

Tony, I'm looking at going bumperless with my 67 GT, I want to give a period rally look, and I want everything I do to be reversible since this is a pretty original low milegae car. I looked at the Moss front Sebring valance, and it sits like the stock valance slighty recessed to the front fender and grille surround, I want it flush like your car but not molded in for the above stated reasons, So I'm leaning toward using a steel stock valance, doing some fab work on it to flush it with the line at the fenders and fornt grille, it will take some work, some slicing, adding sections in and such. I plan on having functioning brake ducts on it that will have brake cooling hoses, that tie into the brake backing plates, I also make neat cover for them so I can block them off on cold days, and normal driving. On the rear I plan on using the Moss Sebring valance, but just not molding it in, this is what we did on the PanAM GT, it takes a bit more prep to get the gaps near perfect. I like the molded in look, I just wont to keep this car easliy reversible.

Hap, I spaced my front spoiler out to make it flush with the car....when you mount it back in a slightly recessed way, you have to do some trimming at the outer edges - unless you're using the huge front fender flares.

If you look at mine, I narrowed it so there's only 1 opening for my oil cooler & so it follows my new fender flare lines. We also smoothed the brake ducts into the spoiler instead of leaving them pop riveted on top of it as they come from Moss:

& they've done some more shaping around the grille opening and that spoiler, getting the area between the bottom of the grille & the oil cooler opening to flow smoothly & in line with the front edge of the hood....I haven't made any photos yet because that work just doesn't show up well.

Say, what ever happened to that PanAM GT anyway?

Yeah, I like how you smoothed out the brake ducts on the Moss Sebring valance, my idea for that is pretty much the same, I want to have capture nuts on the back side so I can block them off with custom aluminum bolt-on covers on colder days and for normal driving. If you plan on making the brake duct functional, and carry cool air to the brake via a hose, you'll need some sort of screen to keep debris form getting to the rotors.
