Sprite rust

What Rick said. Someone did something strange with the rocker just behind the front wheel--it has been badly repaired at some point. Expect other bodging elsewhere.

for the $500 sale price, WHY NOT?!??!!

FYI. There's a Spridget specific forum here as well.

The term "Spridget" does not register with most people.:hammer:

(and is why I've suggested changing the name of the forum)

Sprites that aren't bugeyes are still relatively inexpensive and the adage of buying the best one you can afford certainly applies. The $500 is only the price of admission to what is likely to end up as a rather expensive restoration. The cost of metal work and paint will put the buyer of this car upside down very quickly unless they are a skilled enough do-it-yourselfer to do all the work on their own and want to take on the challenge. Paying another couple of thousand dollars to find a solid shell makes a lot more economic sense.

Let me clarify - the bits that are viewable in the photos (or referenced in the prose) are, individually, worth $500 or more. Simply stated, I have bought less for more. Granted, it may be more of a project than someone is willing to take on but, at a minimum, a great donor vehicle for a "rust free" tub. Just my $0.02.

Mig wire is cheap (mig welders are even relatively cheap these days!) if you have the inclination it is doable, but would be a lot of work. Even in my neck of the woods, not hugely populated, and in the rust belt, Sprites and Midgets are still relatively plentiful and cheap. Out on the east coast is certainly rust belt area as well, but there still should be better cars (maybe one you can patch here and there instead of reconstructing the bottom third, and based on what it looks like that is probably what you would have to do) you can turn up with a little looking. I would certainly look at and test, where applicable and if drivable, the engine, tranny, interior, and front suspension. If two out of the four are in good shape worth the price if you are thinking of picking up a Sprite project.
