Hello Sprite people. I often visit the 'big' Healey section because I have a 100. For the last couple of years I have been busy restoring my wife's Sprite. It is an Australian built Mark One so it's a YHAN 1 which is the same as an AN5.

Thank you John-Peter, yes compared to the USA, the 'Down Under' Sprite community is small. The attached photo shows where we started. Helen has owned this car for many years and it was her daily driver for about 15 of those years.

I'm curious about the front tube shocks. Is that a kit? If so, who makes it? Also, it looks like the top of the tube shock mounts to a bracket bolted to the top of the old lever shock--is that correct? And is the lever shock still functional or is it just working as an upper control arm?

Looks like a nice restoration!

I blew it up and lightened it. Looks like the original green shocks and upper control arm link are there, the upper tube mount bolts to the top of the original shock, diagonal bolts.....or so it appears at 400% and the loss of clarity at that resolution.

G,day all, thanks for your interest. While I have dealt with both Colin and Tony, (both heplful suppliers, especially Tony) I get most of the parts from a local bloke called The Frog Pond. So, even though the population is small by comparison we still have a Sprite speciallist in Queensland.
The shocker conversion was made & fitted many years ago by a bloke called Carl Stecher. It is a bit makeshift but works. The adaptor fits over the original Armstrong shocker. I should have painted the telescopics, the yellow really stands out. The front shocks are from the rear of a Morris Minivan. The brackets can be seen in the attached picture, next to the lever action shocks.

I believe Australia got the last of the 'frog eye' sprite's as CKD "kits" so to speak. Or is my memory bad on that?

Looks to be a very nice car.

You are correct, Kurt. In fact, I believe the only '61 Frogeyes made were CKD destined for down-under...
