Anyone have one of these in their sprite? I'm considering purchasing this for daily use and having the orginal wheel repaired and kept aside. Is this frowned upon? :smile:
 
I put a wheel from Mike Lempert on the Tunebug before I sold it -- rosewood Derrington style (a bit different than the Le Mans). Great stuff. Took a while to get it as it was a custom job but I was always very happy with it.

Lempert does nice work. Nice guy too. You can't go wrong with his Falcon wheel. I personalized the Tunebug with a wheel I made myself based on an early version of the Falcon crossed with a Stanguellini FJ wheel I restored.

Made yourself? I've been considering this route. what was the process?
 
Really a nice accessory, it looks right at home on your Sprite. The PO of my Midget installed a nice Mountey wood wheel, it really sets the Autumn Leaf interor color off nicely.

Classic look, very nice. :yesnod:

Miss Agatha has had many comments on her MOSS wheel.

Not as purty as Jack's Miss Agatha, but here's my Mountey wheel in the MK III Midget. The tan colored Mountey wooden wheel sets off the Autumn Leaf interior color nicely, IMHO.

Interior is stock except for the console and Mountey wheel. I really like the console, it's great for storage and the coffee cup holder is very convenient for my coffee habit/addiction.

Now, if I just had wire wheels . . .

It's not a complicated process, but it is tricky one...Can't say I'd recommend it unless you've got some prior woodworking experience. There's more than one way to do this too. The following pics should give you an idea what I did...The wood is Mahogany that came into the USA in 1969.(not that African stuff they try to pass off as Mahogany now)

AN5-That is impressive, if I tried to do that it would be a lumpy square shape. The finished wheel in your car is beautiful!

thanks for all the replies. Sounds like it's quite ok to add the wheel. Think i will had a wooden gear shift know to complete the look.
