I had to trash the two flat u bolts that go around the spring. They are not available from Moss or VB. Anyone ever have to replace these and what did you use?

Do you mean 265-570? They're available....
 
No, but am going to replace those as well as they pited real badly, I mean the flat U bolts, there are two about mid spring.

Is it shown in the illustration? I'm trying to figure out what it is so I can see if I've got used ones
 
yes is in ipb, up side down flat ubolts.

Look a bit like flat steel rather than bolts.

Jack, its been so long since I've ordered anything from VB that I don't even own an old VB Midget catalog!
 
No numbers in the Moss book at all. But they are between the two round U bolts at either end.
 
Tony, Jack is referring to the clamps that go around the spring stack. Flat pieces bent into a square "C" shape, with a horizontal bolt through the bottom.

Shoot. I'll take four please of your flat kinda u boltish, thingees for springs.
 
Thought you wanted the 265-570. When I had my springs rebuilt years ago they replaced the other U bolts with band straps, I would think that a spring shop would have those.

Let me know how you make out sourcing the clamps; I have an extra set of 1/4 elliptic springs that I can steal some parts off of if you want to stay close to original. A spring shop should be able to supply a modern equivalent though as GB1 pointed out.
