Spring is in the air

I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. I happened to see Mickey's car listed for sale. My wife walked by and asked me what I was looking at. I told her it was a TR8 that I wanted to buy. She glanced at it and said "nice color". Turned around and said "what are you waiting for, call him before someone else buys it".

True story and the rest is history.

I started with a well sorted out car with a beautiful paint job. That can be 80% of the battle. I'm doing more and more, which is probably what would have happened if Mickey kept it.

But now it's down to really minor stuff and it's just about time for cruising.

If I don't decide to paint the bumpers and bottom panels to match the rest of the car...............but that will only be a week in the body shop.

Paul, is it okay if I fly my wife out there to spend some time with your wife?

Paul has taken it up another notch or three!

Truth be told, though, I think Ms. Brosky had designs on it for herself!

IMHO, leave them black. I had my car painted many years ago and did the lower portion the same as the body color. It looked OK initially but lost it's allure quickly.

When I had the car completely dissembled for a high quality paint job, we went with a high gloss black on the bottom. It dresses it up, but still looks stock.

Again...my 2 cents.....

John, send her over. I just received approval to insulate the ceiling in the garage and then plaster it after the new ceiling mount hot water heater is installed. I had the walls done two years ago in anticipation of this, but never thought I'd pull that one off.

Randy, I saw a bright red one all painted and it looked fantastic. That got me thinking about it. My wife saw the 8 all cleaned up in the garage and said why not leave it alone, it looks good with the black?

Judging from my recent success in getting the TR8 and the garage heater, I just may take her advice.

If I knew someone good in photoshop, I'd have a conception done before I painted anything, just to be sure. Every time I try something I just make a mess with my software, so I bagged it.

I know a silver TR8 in our area Brosky with the bumpers done in silver, and while it looks good, i think some 'extra' contrast with black bumpers gives the car a better look, especially if the bumpers are in good shape.

My vote is, leave them black =)

Paul,

With your red TR8, personaly I would hesitate to paint the bumpers red, but may be a graphite gray that would look less massive?

On the other hand I saw photos of a Silver TR8 with matching bumpers and thought it looked very nice.

My TR8 is Platinum silver, and I sourced a pair of spare bumpers; I am considering having them painted a slightly darker shade of silver that would blend with the Platinum. Not quite there yet!

Nice to see ya here Henri

You to Dave.
But keep it quiet to the rest

You mean we cannot post photos of our overnight snowstorm?

I have no idea where this picture came from, although it looks suspiciously like in front of our place this morning ...

I'm in denial ... :nonod:
