Tomorrow our car club is going on a drive. Our Spring Fling. Leaving at 9am, driving north from STL up to Hannibal (of Samuel Clemens fame) then across the Mississippi on the ferry (how many LBCs fit on a ferry?) to the IL side, down the river road to Grafton for the evening. Some are spending the night in order to party properly. But...since I'm taking the B to her first Cardinal baseball game Sunday, we aren't staying overnight.

Best part? In the 80's and sunny all weekend baby!

YEA!

Did you get box seats for the B, or will the two of you be in the bleachers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif

AAHH!! Cardinal baseball!!! Remember when I was a kid and the World Series was actually played during the day time. Remember listening to the Cards during school on the radio. Those were the days when you could name the players on the team and they pretty much stayed the same each year. Things like RBI's, HR's, and strike outs where what you connected with the player. Today...it is signing bonuses, amount of contract...HOW MUCH MONEY they make. Give me Bob Gibson, Ken Boyer, and "the boys".

Have a FUN, I know you will, and SAFE adventure.

GO CARDS!!!!

Gibby, Kenny Boyer, Lou Brock, Stan the Man, Julian Javier, Curt Flood, Ray Sedaki...so many great Cardinals. I grew up listening to the games on the radio with my aunt who was a rabid Redbird fan!

I'm still grieving over them letting Matheny go. And I'm not so happy about Woody Williams and Steve Kline going either. But, we'll still kick baseball butt this season!

Lou Brock, Curt Flood, STAN THE MAN, etc. Gee I am in grade school again. Remember black and white TV with Dizzy Dean and PeeWee Reese at the mikes for the game of the week. Great memories!!! I forgot who the radio voice of the Cards was back then. I know go for a time out.

Have a SUPER weekend Jaybird or should that be REDbird? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I didn't have a color tv until I got married! Was more fun listening on the radio anyway! I remember listening when the Cardinals won the pennant in '64, first time in like 15-20 years!

JACK BUCK my good man, JACK BUCK. Radio play-by-play for 50 years here in STL!!!

Remember when Harry Carey announced for like 25 years here in STL? Rumored he called a few plays with someone that happened to be married to a Busch (as in Busch Stadium and Anheuser-Busch) And off he went to Chicago.

And the Padres beat 'em tonight! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I remember the 1964. Trying to do my penmanship papers with the game on the loud speaker. JACK BUCK, I may have to turn in my STL hat for not remembering Jack Buck's name. Remember Harry more for the Cubs. Nothing like being at the ballpark. Back then STL had a farm club in Tulsa. Oh, better get off here or I will write a novel. Thanks for taking me back to a "simpler time".

Hope you can post some pix of the weekend!!
