Spring drive in the Rockies...

So my local club had its Spring brunch run this morning. From Loveland up to Estes Park though Devil's Gulch (a bit of a back-road into Estes Park). Here is a photo of the high meadows on the North side of Estes Park looking into the heart of Rocky Mountain National Park.

After brunch, my girlfriend and I did some more touring. Put about 300 miles on total and the TR8 was giving back almost 23 mpg.

Shawn,
See any Stags along the route?

Shawn,

You are really fortunate to have such scenery.
Thanks for the picture - I hope I can drive the 6 over
someday.

Just Paul's '71...

Okay, I was just checking to see if Paul drove his Stag, his Spit, or his Porsche.

He drove the best one!

The 4 will be out and about this weekend. 50 plus and mostly clear. I just have to outrun any cloudbursts should they occur. I think I'll head over to my nephews shop where he restores cars. At the moment, he is building an airplane for a customer. This is the second one my nephew built for the same fellow. He promised him a ride this time though when it's all done.

What a fantastic picture. That looks great. I never thought that I would see anywhere more beautiful than the scenery on the west coast of Scotland, but then I visited the Rockies in Colorado. WOW, what a beautiful part of the world.

Nick, I'll make sure and get some good ones for you when we go over those mountains in about one months time. Memorial Day weekend (May 24,25&26), the National Park service strives to open Trail Ridge Road over the top of Rocky Mountain National Park. Our club usually drives over to Grand Lake, CO for lunch. Not uncommon to drive between 10' walls of snow up there. If your lucky, the road stays open for the return trip. Quite often though, it snows shut again and were forced to take the long way home. I usually take the long way anyway so its no big deal for me.

Nick,

The US of A does, being one of the larger land masses of the world, provide a bountiful variety of scenery.

The Rockies, Sierras, Tetons, etc are some of the most scenic large mountain ranges in the world.

I, when visiting The Mither Country, developed a deep emotional "dejavu" connection with the Strathspey Country, especially around Loch Eileen.

Perhaps some genetic memory, dunno. But I sure enjoyed the Highlands... Now I know why I enjoyed living upcountry in Southern California when I was a youngster as the alpine meadows, crags and tors are shared by both Physical geographies.

Hey Shawn,

Put me on the list for this drive! Also, this year we gotta get some folks together and drive up Pikes Peak!

Coming to the Conclave meeting tonight?
