Spring Compressor

I'm about to redo the entire front suspension on my '59 TR-3 and have seen a rather simple threaded rod type spring compressor. Does anyone have any specs on this?? Length, size of plate on the bottom etc. I have a machine shop at work, so fabrication is no problem. I just need a picture or drawing.

I used a 24" threaded rod (1/2 or 5/8 ") with lots of washers and nuts at each end. For the plate, I found a 3 1/2" aluminum disk, about a 1/4" thick with about an inch-thick collar in the middle - don't remember where I found that. It worked well, but I do advise caution with this - no guarantees that it won't go flying apart! E-mail me if you need more info.

Thanks Mickey,

That's sounds like what I had seen. The length of the rod and size of the plate were really what I needed.

I use 5/8 all thread rod. Since it is made of grade zip steel, do not expect to use it more than a few times. I use a little oil or grease on the rod so the nut will turn easier. Be Careful!
