spridget front suspension

I am fixing up a 1969 AH sprite for autocrossing and hillclimbing with my son. We have rebuilt the front suspension. We used shorter competition springs. When I put the wheels on and lowered the car the tops of the wheel stick far to much (positive camber) There is no engine in, but these are more positive than I think they should be. I have pics but do not know how to upload on this forum.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Way out like this?
If so then yes I know exactly where you went wrong, guess how I know?

Here is how the thing should be put together, can you see anything you attached 180 degrees out?

See the largest part #13 is pointing at?
Is that put on toward the inside or outside - it will bolt on either way and one way will make the top of your tires angle outward.

The only thing is # 21. I forgot to mark R and L when I took apart. I think I have it right.
I really need a true picture of the front suspension

Ok thats it. I have the trunion pointed back. I just swivel it 180 degrees and thats it. right?

Welcome to the club.

Thanks RickB. I have been looking at this all day and being very frustrated.
Thanks for the welcome.
I spend a lot of time on the 6-pack.org forum. I have 4 Triumphs.
My son and I were given an AH Sprite that we decided to turn into a dedicated racer. Once I figure out how to post pics here I will.
I will have the motor rebuild complete next week. On the final stages now but still alot of little things. Not as bad as restoring a Triumph!

ha, I to knew right away what the prob was for the same reason.

BTDT more than once.

Obviously a lot of us have done that, perhaps I was the most recent to admit it until you came along

So you did it on both sides eh? Must have looked bow legged!!

:jester:

To post a picture -
Two ways, one is to put pictures on a sharing site like Picasa and then get the link to that image (should start with "https:" end in something like ".jpg") then come here and go to Full Reply mode or Start A New Thread mode and look at the top of the frame where you put text. One of the little icons across the top (4th from left on my screen) is the image button. If you hover your mouse over it you should get a pop up that says "Enter an image". Click it and there will be a box where you can paste or type in the link to your picture. Don't worry it will size itself properly for the forum.

OR

Make the picture smallish, something like 640x480 or 800x600 resolution and around or under 100K in file size. Then click the link to "File Manager" under the text box used for entering a message. Click the "Browse" button and find your picture. Then click the "Add file" button. If there is a problem it will tell you, otherwise click "Done adding files" and then you are done!

Clear as mud?

Welvome and yes, i am another who knew exactly what the problem was.

"Hi, my name is Rick and I'm an LBCoholic"

Wish it would warm up here, I've got a lot of work to do on my cars!

I discovered it when it went to paint. I cannot believe I could not see it!! I am glad you guys saw it so quickly. I does look funny. Tomorrows fix.

Another orange Midget! BillM will be so happy!
Yes, that's the tell tale sign of a backwards trunnion!
Easy fix, looks like it's going to be a nice looking racer too!

Sorry to snub BillM, but it is red. Just the shop lighting making it look orange.

Ah - ok, I was going by the red tool cabinet and it looked orange.
Not a big deal, I like red!
Yes, I can see the problem in the picture - that's just so easy to do and then you get done and scratch your head wondering "what happened???".

Welcome to this place, I hope you like it here!

TR, your in Reading, I'm in E-towm....we're almost neighbors!!
I did the same thing w/ my BE after I upgraded from drum to disc brakes. I almost had a panic attack when I looked at the front end. Thought I screwed it up beyond repair. But after stepping away and looking w/ freah eyes I saw the error of my ways. Maybe it's just a PA front end alignment.......lol
