"Spotted" - forgotten tunes

On a blog I sometimes frequent, someone posted a link to this song by Gary Puckett and Union Gap that I had not heard in a very long time. I remember hearing this a lot when I was in Junior High School.

PS: Mr Puckett, Gumby called; he wants his suit back!

I heard one yesterday, that was buried deep for me:
I know you aficionado's will know it, so here's a line:

"Well, I saw Lon Chaney walkin' with the queen"

name that tune?

No clue (without cheating)

was he drinking a pina colada at Trader Vics? And how was his hair?

That would be the werewolf of London - Warren Zevon

What a great thread... My most recent "forgotten tune" happened several weeks ago, I was in a local Potbelly's, eating lunch when they played this song. I knew that I'd heard it before but had completely forgotten it. Luckily, I have the phone ap Shazam installed, so I was able to identify it. So here it is...

I am soooooo angry they closed the Trader Vic's in LA without warning.

Well, there was a sort of "we'll be remodeling some time next year" announcement. But we never heard a time frame until it was past tense.

I guess I'm madder at myself for not going down there when they first hinted at it.

The plan was to gather with fellow Zevonisti for a round of Pina Coladas and complement each others' hair. (Uh, for those that still have hair, anyway.) Sigh.

It ain't that pretty at all.

Isn't some high rise going up there now? Corner of Santa Monica and Wilshire?

I heard one today that really brought back memories. I remember TDN was the first concert I ever took a girl friend to. Well, momma told me not to...

They're building a Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Back when they shut down Trader Vic's they were also planning some high rise condos. Don't know if that's still in the plan.

Here's one I heard recently that has always been one of my favs from their later periods.

If you are of a certain age you may have forgotten this, but you will likely remember this moderately successful 70s hit when you hear it. There is an interesting story behind it that I learned when looking it up just now. https://youtu.be/OqDu5LBT8_Y

I just heard this one while sitting waiting for a haircut. Been a long time since I heard this one:

Here's an updated version of an oldie I heard recently. Three Dog Night was one of the first concerts I ever attended (Might have been the second, I think Jimmie Hendrix was first. Fuzzy memories)

Recently, Amazon dropped some "you also may like" suggestions for CD's of albums that I already had on vinyl but hadn't listened to in a long time. I went ahead and bought some of the CD's so I could have them in a digital format and load them on my computer, etc.

And what'ya know, this morning while I was in the lighting dept. at Lowe's, one of those tunes came over the PA.

I was listening to the sound track from Heavy Metal the movie and it includes "Working in the Coal Mine" by Devo, which reminded me of their one big hit. Who can forget these guys with their flower-pot hats (Thank God that fad didn't take off).
