Spotted! Can anyone help me as to what this one is?

Saw this one out on the road today. An old Mini, with the clubman style nose (you know, the one with the full length grille, not the cool chromed one like the car pictured above). But, the car had some sort of station wagon body on the back. No wood, like the Countryman (?), and not solid sided like a van. Anyone know what kinda Mini this is? (And if the owner's on this site, neato car!)

Hi William,

Did it look like this?

[Also, a little know fact to correct you... while the famous Morris Minor Traveller came only with wood sides, the Mini estates built up to 1969/70 came with your choice of either wood or all-steel - although I think all-steel estates are rarely seen.]

This car belongs to BCF member XLY 245G who lives somewhere in New England (so it probably wasn't his car), his website is:

WOW! Where can a guy find one of those? Wonder what it would look like if I put an MG1100 nose on it?

Well... if you look at his website, the Mini pictured there is for sale (the website is listed there too). But I'm not sure whether an MG 1100 nose would fit on there, all that's behind the different front end is basic, classic Mini bodyshell and chassis.

And there are a fair number of Clubman-type Mini's that have been imported over privately into North America - they were never sold here new. I actually saw a Clubman two-door saloon version the last two weekends at local British car shows (the same car both times).

I kinda like these little cargo type vans with the rounder nose and no side rear windows.

Now, that little blue panel van is it! But, what I'd really like to have is a Minor pickup!

Yep, great little example...I prefer, however, to buy good, solid, original or older restorations so I can do "it my way"....that baby has already been done right@ Don't know that I like the color though...

No, no, no, chuck...it'd have to be green so I could have my logo painted on both sides (see logo below)

I nkow, chuck...you think my web site would be neater with a neutral background....I just can't find one I like...

Hey, thats my car up there, I'm almost famous!

The clubman rocks, I just drove it to Boston(200 mile round trip) a couple of weeks ago for the micro car and mini day without any problems. If any one on here is in the new england area you should check that show out next year at the Larz Anderson Museum, there some interesting stuff there, even a Reliant Robin.

PS thanks for the plug Sherlock
