Spoiler or not?

That's okay....your car was the last year where MG painted the front valance the color of the body...thereafter, all valances were painted black to try & achieve what the LE spoiler did...in some way, I kinda like that hint of body color peeking out from under the bumper

You liar! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I actually have always thought that bit should have been painted black all along, even mentioned that to Chuck.

Well, on the early rubber bumper cars it WAS body color - but MG realized real fast it should be black!

Yes it should be!!!

Its easy to do...satin black in a rattle can will accomplish what you're looking for.

I was going to mention something about that, but I didn't want to say 'rattlecan and paint job' in the same sentence. It couldn't be hard, just a little work on a warm spring day.

I like the spoilers. I remember when VB sold an "RB" spoiler with built in fog lights. I used to want to put that on my old CB GT. The one I have on my GT now is I think, an LE spoiler. I'm posting a link. Anyway, I kind of like them. The valance is cool too. Whatever you like, really. Painting them different colors, like black on a red car or yellow on a green car looks kind of cool in y opinion.

I the LE spoilers help to bring the front of the RB cars together a bit better. With out them RB B's look like they have severe over-bites to me... especially in states that require front license plates...

I think ideally/ultimately the RB B's probably wouldn't have the "ugly duckling" syndrome in the B family if they all originally came with something a bit more substantial under the front bumper.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of many, has anyone seen a spoiler on an RB with the bumpers painted to match body color? I'm assuming the spoiler would, in that case, match the body & bumper color.
When the time eventually comes for me to repaint (I'm hoping for '08), I'm considering matching the bumpers to body color, on inspiration from Scot Keating's photos. His car doesn't have the spoiler, and looks great. Any thoughts, or has anyone seen painted bumpers with a spoiler?

Aerog.

Do a search for a thread of his or his car's photo in the gallery. Not sure he has a spoiler though.

Hey Tony -

I did look at Aerog's (Scot's) photos, and love the look. He does not have a spoiler. If it looks that good without it, I may just go that way.

Scott has a beautiful car, doesn't he!

Oh, man, absolutely! Is that Carmine Red, or is that what Damask Red is supposed to look like? The first time I saw it I didn't know whether to be inspired or completely deflated. I'm still clinging tenuously to inspired....

Not Carmine - but don't know if its even an MG color

SCOTT................????

Tony - you have any profile and frontal shots of the LE spoiler?

Will these work?

yes, thank you... Just curious, how is it attached to the car? Is it bolted on using the same bolts as the valence on the cars without the spoiler?

The valence is behind it & its bolted on over the valence...that's how the dealer put it on when the car was new...he said the valances were left on as support.

aroo? sounds wierd... I may well place an order once I get my tax returns... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hiya All!

Happy 2006!

Thanks for all of the responses,..I have the spoiler, so I'm gonna have the body guys put it on in Feb,..if I decide I don't likey, we can always take it off.

But I think I will like it.

Nunyas, the instructions that came with the Moss LE spoiler, said to attach it directly to the front valance with sheet metal screws.

I've been busy bringing the B's christmas gifts over to her apartment (storage),..I'm all set for the spoiler, new weber, gas tank and rear suspension,...just have to get the new exhaust and that'll have me all ready for spring /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cheers!
