Spoiler or not?

Hiya All,

Ok,..so before the B went into hibernation, my front valance was attacked by a rogue cement parking pile. Er, well the parking brake slipped, and I rolled over it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Minor damage,..will be easily fixed when the body guys do their once-over in February /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've been considering a front air dam,..saw some at the show in October, liked the look.

I went ahead and ordered the LE spoiler from moss,...had no idea that it was plastic,..but it looks OK. I was told this one was the easiest fit for RB cars.

Anyways,..what do y'all think?

I'm not married to the idea of installing one, but I think it might look good.

Any thoughts?

Many Thanks!

Stay single.

Give me 5 reasons why you think a spoiler would be a good thing.

LOL birdie!

Lemme see:

1. I think it kind of works with the black bumper.
2. I'd rather hear a warning "crunch" of plastic, than damage another valance /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
3. I think it makes the car look more aggressive,..which makes me giggle.
4. Sometimes I listen to the voices in my head, sometimes I don't.
5. I kind of like the look,..but then again I still have all of my skinny ties from the 80's,...so maybe i should re-think this :p

lol

Thanks ! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/troll.gif

I went with the ST spoiler on my 78B and think it looks pretty cool. While it was intended for CB Bs, it works well with the Rubber Bumper Bs too.

Compaired to the normal valance - repairs are cheap. If you paint it flat black rather than body color (like I did) should it get damaged, you can patch & repair the fiberglass ones really easy yourself. Then touch up with a rattle can.

Another + plus would seem to be that Jaybird is annoyed by them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

1) Ya think?
2) Take Judging Distance 101
3) I think it makes the cars look, well, let's just say if God had intended MGs to have 'spoilers,' he'd have put the idea in Don Hayter's head.
4) The voices in your head are saying, 'leave things alone, leave things alone."
5) Keep the skinny ties, they'll be back in style in another 10-15 years.

Bret, show me yours. The ones I've seen are just bugly.

Okay. So you both have them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes the air dams were standard on the '80 LEs. Last year they made the MGBs. Hmmm...

I will admit they don't look totally bugly on you guys' cars. The one I hate the absolute most is on JeffNC's B. That's just so wrong it's disturbing to me.

Dealer installed the spoiler on my '79 when I picked it up new

...difference, Janel, is the spoilers were designed to compliment the rubber bumpers - they look out of place on a chrome bumper car & actually make it uglier than a rubber bumper car without a spoiler!

Pretty! What are those wheels?

Thanks! The wheels are Alloy "Western Wheels" popular in the mid-70's.

I got them off of ebay for about $200 from a guy who took them off of 240Z. The center caps I made myself using some generic caps with Rostyle centercaps attached to them.

"...uglier than a rubber bumper car without a spoiler..."

HEY! I resemble that remark!

Tony you're harsh!

No, we all love you, Janel - this is tough love...not like some folks....

do you see how the spoiler anchors the car to the road?

Nope, don't see nuffin'.
