Split steering wheel solution?

I have a beautiful and huge TR3 steering wheel that is splitting vertically in a more than one area. I did due diligence searching the archives but did not find anything. What I am curious about is if this is a typical problem and more importantly if there is a typical solution.

Thanks,
Jim Lee

Frank's article also shows what I would consider the more typical solution : Stick a leather cover on it. Mine isn't nearly as bad as Frank's was, but it has some splits and I plan to just install a Wheelskins cover on it (if that should ever rise to the top of my priority queue  )

Yup. I use JB Weld, or LB Qwik.
File, sand, smooth, and paint with epoxy paint.
