Got a set of Minitor rims on the latest parts car. Tires were dry rotted. Any Recommendations on a suitable road tire for the rims?
Thanks!

I'm guessing 13" rims? I have Sumitomo HTR200s on the 'Ropa. These work fine, and at $50 a pop from Tire Rack, the price is right.

Actually there is a "tire survey" on Jerry Johnson's Truly Wonderfull Europa Site that might be helpfull:

https://www.lotus-europa.com/tire_survey.html

Shows you what folks think of various 13" tires on their Europas.

Humm.. some LBC cross-pollenation.

Hope that helps.

Rob.

...yes on the 13" rims...

Additionally, the rims have P155/80 R13 Bridgestones on them.

You don't say what you want the tires to do. So I'll guess you want all around street performance at a good price.

The Sumitomo HTR200 is probably your best choice.

Just street use.

(off topic) - Rob... who set up that site? So much potential, but it has to be one of the worst web page layouts I've ever seen... and the cars for sale section is particularly bad...

Tire-wise, we have some generic brand 175/70R13's on Baldrick's Superlite wheels. Nothing stellar performance-wise, but they get the job done. I find it funny that years ago there were tons of 13" tire choices (I had 175/70 R13 BFG T/A Radials on my '82 Subaru wagon), but now you really have to search... :frown: Unless, I find something better, the next tires will likely be the HTR200's previously mentioned since the Spitfire is a Summer and (usually) fair-weather car for us.

I used the Bridgestones on my 79 1500 and was pleased with the performance. My local Firestone took care of them and was about as cheap as getting them from TireRack and then having them mounted. Handled good in wet or dry. Ran them for about 10,000 miles before selling the car tread was still excellent.

Jerry Johnson runs the site - he is a retired Europa enthusiast in the Mid-West (Indiana or Tennessee I think). Maybe there are more flash sites around (this one for instance), but there is a heck of a lot of info to be found on Jerry's site - if you know where to look. He even has fully serchable illustrated workshop manuals for both the Renault and TC Europas on there, and a knowledgebase of years of Europa webring e-mails. Good stuff!

I put a set of Sumitomo HTR T4 175/70R13s on my Spitfire last summer and LOVE THEM! They are very quite, have great grip, and perform very well in the rain. I got caught in a real down pour last summer and the tires never hydroplaned. I'm planning to put a set of these on my MGBGT as well.

Ok... I think I found my problem... for some reason, the site runs badly on my laptop at home running Firefox. On my computer here at work running IE, it looks much better. Perhaps my Flash plug-in needs to be updated.
